Eddie James
Eddie has been flying RC planes for about 15 years. He initially became interested while visiting a local hobby shop with a friend during lunch. After watching his friend fly for a while, he purchased a trainer known as the “School Boy” and joined the Menifee Valley Flyers club and Hemet Model Masters two weeks later. Eddie enjoys 3D flying and anything fast (he owns a couple of pylon style racers). His favorite plane is his Extreme Flight MSX. What keeps him coming to the field is his desire to perfect his 3D skills and the adrenalin from flying fast. Eddie is known for encouraging others in improving their skills.
Richard Lawrence
Vice-President
Richard has been flying RC for about eleven years. He remembers it as something he always wanted to do. He previously lived in the Pacific Northwest where he enjoyed sailing catamarans. After moving to Southern California he decided he needed a new hobby and decided to take up RC. His initial flying was in an empty lot nearby that developers left available. Richard admits to destroying his share of planes there while learning to fly. He became a member of Hemet Model Masters in 2011. He enjoys all kinds of flying from sport to warbirds, some 3D and also drones. His favorite flier is the Focke-Wulfe Fw 190. Richard enjoys the camaraderie of the club and the great flying field. He also enjoys introducing others to the sport and particularly young folks whom he would like to see get more involved.
Kevin McDonald
Kevin has been flying RC airplanes since he was 12 years old. His first RC radio was a do it yourself 5-channel model from Heathkit which he and his Dad built. Together they also began building model planes to fly. He took a break from flying during his teens but got started again in his 20’s and has been flying ever since. He enjoys scale and EDF (electric ducted fan) jets. He prefers electrical powered planes due to the simplicity and reliability. His favorite plane is an E-Flite Advance 25e and he enjoys its aerobatic capabilities. He particularly enjoys the camaraderie of the club and flying with buddies. Kevin enjoys assisting others and often does first flight check outs for less experienced pilots.
